Holidays don’t end here–Chinese New Year is approaching. Although we can’t enjoy all those great deals on Boxing Day sales, I do wish that everyone can find some spare time to read the following about a fantastic Chinese New Year show: Chinese Dance Spectacular 2011.Ocean Rain Chinese Arts Academy is so far the only professional Chinese dance and performing arts institute in Greater Victoria. Since founded in the summer of 2008, we offer a wide range of programs, such as Chinese dance (following Beijing Dance Academy syllabus), Vocal music, Chinese instrument and brush painting classes.

On February 26, 2011 at 7:00pm, our Academy will be presenting our annual school recital/Chinese New year show, Chinese Dance Spectacular 2011 at UVic’s Farquhar Auditorium. We will be showcasing many fantastic and authentic Chinese dances from different part of China through the programs. The show will be hosted by Mayor Dean Fortin. Highlights include amazing Chinese dances by students at the academy, Duet Dance by Ocean and Rain Lu, and a Chinese Soprano, Dr. Min Li, who was the first generation of Madam Butterfly in China, Chinese traditional music by local Chinese Musicians and much more.

• Early Bird (before Jan 31, 2011)cost per ticket is $22.00, adult or $18.00, senior/child (<11).

• Regular pricing as of February 1st is $25.00, adult or $20, senior/ (child <11).

• Groups of 20 or more qualify for a 10% discount if purchased at same time.

华夏舞韵2011

维多利亚市海洋雨华夏艺术学院将于二月二十六日，2011年在维多利亚大学的演播厅（University Center Farquhar Auditorium）举办第二届2010/2011学年中国舞蹈汇报专场。舞蹈节目由本学院教师编导，教授。衷心希望通过这个专场晚会让大家了解到中华舞蹈文化的博大和种类的繁多，同时为活跃在当地的中国艺术家们提供一个展示才华的舞台。海洋雨的学生不光是儿童，中学生，大学生，还有对华夏文化念念不忘的中青年舞蹈爱好者。在此感谢他们对华夏舞蹈艺术在维多利亚的生根发芽做出的努力。

舞蹈节目分类有：
*中国古典舞
*中国民间舞
*中国民族舞
*中国现代舞
*儿童舞蹈班的小朋友通过学习北京舞蹈学院中国舞蹈专业考级课程，进步非凡，希望能通过这场晚会，让更多的朋友关注中国舞蹈的少儿专业教育。

在各界朋友的支持下，去年的晚会的门票很快就全部售出。虽然那是海洋雨的师生第一次向朋友，家人，和观众汇报学习成绩，但是得到了观众的很多好评，更加激励了海洋雨的师生们。希望今年的演出在去年的基础上吸取经验，使观众能有耳目一新的感觉。为了增添这台晚会的多样性，海洋雨特别邀请了一些表演嘉宾：温哥华的一些兄弟舞蹈学校；中央戏剧学院表演系声乐教授，中国音乐家协会会员，中国青年音乐家协会理事，女高音歌唱家，李敏教授；Doctorate of Musical Arts (Piano Performance and Pedagogy) University of Iowa, Master of Music (Piano Performance and Pedagogy) Brandon University, 钢琴演奏家，教育家，张强音；当地著名灵魂乐，爵士音乐家，作曲家，歌唱家Richard Aloysius；Velsellka乌克兰舞蹈等等

我们再次荣幸的邀请到了维多利亚市长Mr.Dean Fortin担任晚会的司仪。
